{"id":756,"date":"2025-11-24T14:13:22","date_gmt":"2025-11-24T06:13:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.itsmetoo.com\/?p=756"},"modified":"2025-11-24T14:13:22","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T06:13:22","slug":"the-first-booster-of-spacexs-upgraded-starship-fails-in-texas-test","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.itsmetoo.com\/index.php\/2025\/11\/24\/the-first-booster-of-spacexs-upgraded-starship-fails-in-texas-test\/","title":{"rendered":"The First Booster of SpaceX&#8217;s Upgraded &#8220;Starship&#8221; Fails in Texas Test"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"756\" height=\"438\" src=\"https:\/\/www.itsmetoo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-23.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-757\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.itsmetoo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-23.png 756w, https:\/\/www.itsmetoo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-23-300x174.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 756px) 100vw, 756px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Friday local time, the first-stage booster of SpaceX&#8217;s upgraded &#8220;Starship&#8221; rocket malfunctioned during a pre-dawn test in Texas, which may complicate the company&#8217;s efforts to demonstrate the rocket&#8217;s lunar landing capability to NASA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SpaceX rolled the stainless-steel booster onto the test stand at the company&#8217;s Starbase rocket facility on Thursday, stating that it intended to test its redesigned propellant system and structural strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At approximately 4 a.m. Central Time on Friday, during testing on the test stand, an enlarged live video feed provided by SpaceX observation group LabPadre showed the booster suddenly invert and release a cloud of gas from the side, indicating that a pressure explosion may have blown open the booster&#8217;s exterior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SpaceX did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The booster that suffered the accident on Friday is the first rocket of &#8220;Starship V3&#8221;. SpaceX stated that this iterative version of the rocket includes a series of new designs and features related to the lunar landing program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SpaceX is known for rapidly producing multiple iterative versions of boosters as part of its capital-intensive &#8220;test-and-fail&#8221; rocket development philosophy.
